Listed below are organizations that Nurses for Nurses International has identified as promoting the concept of care worldwide.

 

International Council of Nurses

The International Council of Nurses is a federation of more than 120 national nurses' associations representing the millions of nurses worldwide.

United Nations

Global association of governments facilitating cooperation in international law, security, economic development, and social equity.

World Health Organization

WHO is the directing and coordinating authority for health within the United Nations system. It is responsible for providing leadership on global health matters, shaping the health research agenda, setting norms and standards, articulating evidence-based policy options, providing technical support to countries and monitoring and assessing health trends.

 In the 21st century, health is a shared responsibility, involving equitable access to essential care and collective defense against transnational threats.

WHO Health Workforce

The number of Resolutions on nursing and midwifery adopted by the WHO World Health Assembly demonstrates the importance WHO Member States attach to nursing and midwifery services as a means of achieving better population health outcomes. The most recent resolution, WHA 59.27, gives WHO the mandate to strengthen the capacity of nursing and midwifery workforce through the provision of support to Member State on:

  • establishing comprehensive programs for the development of human resources for health which support recruitment and retention of sufficient numbers nursing and midwifery workforce,
  • involvement of nurses and midwives in the development of their health systems,
  • country level implementation of the WHO's strategic directions for nursing and midwifery,
  • regular review of the legislation and regulatory processes,
  • collection and use of nursing and midwifery core data,
  • development and implementation of ethical recruitment of national and international nursing and midwifery workforce.

Centers for Disease Control

CDC's Mission is "to promote health and quality of life by preventing and controlling disease, injury, and disability."  CDC's Vision for the 21st Century is "Healthy People in a Healthy World—Through Prevention."

Coordinating Office for Global Health

Mission:  To improve health worldwide by providing leadership, coordination, and support for CDC's global health activities in collaboration with CDC's global health partners.

National Institute of Nursing Research

The NINR mission statement describes research and training goals for the Institute. The Strategic Plan includes goals and plans for 2006 - 2010.  

International Association of Human Caring

Caring is the Essence of Nursing. The International Association for Human Caring advances the body of knowledge of caring and caring research within the discipline of Nursing.

Sigma Theta Tau International

Through its members, the honor society strives to improve the health of the world’s people.

National Council of State Boards of Nursing

Vision:  Building regulatory expertise worldwide.

Purpose:  The purpose of NCSBN is to provide an organization through which boards of nursing act and counsel together on matters of common interest and concern affecting the public health, safety and welfare, including the development of licensing examinations in nursing.

NCSBN's programs and services include developing the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN examinations, performing policy analysis and promoting uniformity in relationship to the regulation of nursing practice, disseminating data related to the licensure of nurses, conducting research pertinent to NCSBN's purpose, and serving as a forum for information exchange for members.

Nursing Knowledge International

The mission of Nursing Knowledge International is to help nurses help others. This is accomplished by providing products and services that serve the global community of nurses in its pursuit of health care knowledge, career advancement, research and continued development of the nursing profession. Nursing Knowledge International assists the nursing profession to improve the health and education of patients and the communities in which nurses practice, lead, teach and conduct research.

American Nurse's Association

The American Nurses Association (ANA) is the only full-service professional organization representing the nation's 2.9 million registered nurses (RNs) through its 54 constituent member associations. The ANA advances the nursing profession by fostering high standards of nursing practice, promoting the rights of nurses in the workplace, projecting a positive and realistic view of nursing, and by lobbying the Congress and regulatory agencies on health care issues affecting nurses and the public.

Irish Nurse's Organisation

The I.N.O. is Ireland's largest Professional Union for Nurses and Midwives with 40,000 members.  The INO is wholly owned by its members, who elect a governing Executive Council every two years, and administer the affairs of the Organisation through local Branch and Special Interest Group Structures.  In this way every practising nurse and midwife has an opportunity to influence the development of policy in a very direct way.

Accepting the maxim that "in unity there is strength" the Organisation provides a unified voice for the profession, and leadership in matters affecting the standing of the profession in the eyes of the Public.

Nairobi University Nursing Student's Association

The department was established by the University of Nairobi  in 1968, as Department of Advanced Nursing. It was meant to train nurses at advanced diploma level (DAN). The programme was meant for Basic Diploma holders (Kenya Registered Nurse). The programme was one of its kind both in East and Central Africa.

The main objective of starting the Department was to prepare nurse educators who could teach in nursing schools and administrate both the schools of nursing and hospitals. 

Red Cross

Royal College of Nursing, Australia

We provide a voice for nursing, by speaking out on health issues that affect nurses and the community in general.  We present professional viewpoints, free of political allegiance, when health policy decisions are sought.

The Alliance Nursing Organizations Alliance

The Nursing Organizations Alliance™ is a coalition of nursing organizations united to create a strong voice for nurses.

The Alliance provides a forum for identification, education, and collaboration building on issues of common interest to advance the nursing profession.

Transcultural Nursing Society

The mission of the TCNS (Transcultural Nursing Society) is to enhance the quality of culturally congruent, competent, and equitable care that results in improved health and well being for people worldwide.
